This 2-day classroom course covers the unique considerations associated with undercover (UC) and confidential informant (CI) operations. The primary focus is the implementation of risk mitigation techniques while still achieving objectives of the case. Basic UC and CI operational protocols and liability concerns are outlined and discussed in detail. Extensive case studies will be utilized to demonstrate pros and cons of learned techniques. This course is instructed by experienced narcotics investigators Tanner Jenkins and Scott Courrege. Tanner and Scott previously worked together as investigators at DEA and are responsible for the largest-to-date federal drug conspiracy indictment in that district. Additionally, they were the case agents of several OCDETF Title-III wiretap cases that led to single-day money seizures that exceeded $1,000,000. Tanner and Scott also worked together in an undercover capacity in a case dealing directly with the Sinaloa Drug Cartel, which led to a record-setting methamphetamine seizure. Both were recognized by the United States Department of Justice, the United States Attorney’s Office, and local agencies for their investigative achievements. Tanner is now a Narcotics Division Commander and since 2018 his division has seized over $8,000,000 in United States currency and made over 700 felony drug arrests. Scott is an attorney who engages in law enforcement training and police practices/litigation consulting. Scott has over 20 years of law enforcement experience, including employment with the United States Border Patrol and the DEA. Tanner and Scott regularly instruct numerous training courses and have been recognized as subject matter experts in narcotics investigations and other areas of law enforcement. *Instructors are acting in their individual capacities and not as representatives or employees of any Law Enforcement Agency. **Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the course start date and time to receive a refund. ***Courses are subject to cancellation due to minimum attendee requirements.
